Nothing nothing nothing. Do you guys want to see an Ad-blog here? Not full time or anything, but I've taken to writing a bi-weekly summary that I could start including here if there was sufficient interest.

The very fun new blog Restaurant Girl Speaks (ever wonder what your waitress thinks about you?) has a cute little story offering advice on picking up your waitress or waiter.

My email is currently down and out with no confirmed resolution, so if you're on fire or trapped under a car and trying to get a hold of me, try my gmail or work email. If you don't have either of those addresses, then you probably should call 911.

Does cranberry flavored emergen-c turn your pee a funny red/yellow color, or should I be worried that I might be peeing blood?

somewhat unsurprisingly, Thom Yorke just announced that he is releasing a solo album later this summer. One of the tracks that are expected to be included on the album is Cymbal Rush which was played by Thom and Johnny at the Big Ask event earlier and is really quite a delight. I'm sure however that it'll be mostly weird. And released on XL! How about that?

The New York Times Magazine does an interesting (and very thorough) exploration on the subject of China's Internet censorship policies, and the impact the Internet (filtered or unfiltered) is having on Chinese society. Although the title, and primary focus of the article is on Google, it goes into a lot more depth than simply one company. NYT Magazine rotates out content pretty quickly, so check this out while it's still available. Article here (reg required; try bugmenot).

Less about the content and more about the visual, this picture of a sci-fi-ish parking system for new Volkswagen's is pretty cool.

Radiohead are touring. If you're a 50% or better fan, you already know this. And you probably already know that they're playing two excruciatingly difficult to get into nights at the fairly intimate Greek Theater up here in Berkeley. But there's another tradition, a time honored nerd-out that I've been participating in since I was a sophomore in college. That's the Live Tour New Songs Bootlet Chase. I'm pretty much ready to nod off to sleep right now, but first I have to listen to 8 mostly-new and entirely unreleased songs from the Copenhagen show (first stop on the European leg of the tour). Diehards can download mp3's here.

Two bands who should be on your radar at the moment, although chances are they're flying a little under it. Tapes 'n Tapes, from Minneapolis, is a self-released, unsigned (correction: they just signed a week or two ago to XL) indie rock group that makes a kind of patchwork quilt sound, folding in about 20 different inspirations in a sometimes-obvious but perfectly reverent sound that isn't completely original but is still unlike almost anything else around right now. It's hard to pick a song on this album to share (there's only one I'll ever skip, and only because it's too slow for my liking) so if you're intrigued but not convinced, let me know. There's something for everyone on there!

The second is a teeny tiny band from Springfield, MO called (deep breath) Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. They're sound is gorgeous and simple, recording-in-the-basement kind of simplicity, full of simple guitar melodies and sing-along harmonies. Their album Broom isn't full of winners, but it makes a good impression overall, with a few really standout tracks. The one I've included here is my favorite, in spite of (or because of?) it's striking similarity to Travis' Somewhere Else.

Somewhat astonishingly, the New York Times has an article in their travel section on Fresno, of all places. I'm shocked. They do manage to point out some of the more entertaining (although slow; mostly things-to-look-at destinations) moments of the city. The Basque Hotel and Chicken Pie Shop really are as amazing as they sound in the description. Although I hate Chicken Pie.

An importer for Spotlight that searches Google for your terms. Looks like a great nod to integration, but typically I would want to be able to switch between search modes (local vs. internet), which is possible with quicksilver (probably Butler and Launchbar too).

For some reason, I've never been able to get rid of some of my old "Classic" Mac habits, like click-and-hold menu navigation. It's a stupid way to work but I've never been able to dislodge it from my brain.
