02.06.06 Google Video hosts all of the Super Bowl commercials. Honestly though, most of them suck. The Bud Light ads (not to be confused with the stupid Budweiser horse ads) were mostly clever, as was the adorable Burger King ad. But honestly, ABC did us all a favor by showing so many network promo's. Commercial's suck this year. Then again, so did the game. TV's dead. # 02.01.06 Really interesting dissection of music recommending services pandora and last.fm. Great read if you have a few minutes to sit down with it, covering how both of these systems work (they come at the same problem in diametrically different ways) and the relative merits of each approach. Personally, I'm always a fan of the aggregate data approach for anything like this, subscribing to the idea that a large enough population will always lead in the right direction (i.e. a clear majority of the data, if your sample is large enough, will indicate you most reliably). Nothing new, that idea, but it's interesting to see someone comparing two differing approaches in action. (thanks dayv!) # « January 2006 | archive index | March 2006 » built with movabletype |
